The Sartorialist

Guess what I got for Christmas?

And I have to say, I enjoyed reading it. He takes a great photo and he has a great sense of style. And he tells a good story. He seems to get to know some of his subjects really well and chats to most of them. My style of photography is slightly different as it involves imagining who the person could be. And I'd never dare speak to them as it would break the spell. Like this guy...

One other thing, Mr Sartorialist has lots of opportunities to swan around some of the world's most glamorous cities. Me, I'm stuck in Oxford. I need to get to London with my camera. Then who knows? My first book?

Excitement at Ikea

I have never been to Ikea before. Can't really see what all the fuss is about. Although I did like the cinnamon bun and the rug department.

Close encounter with a cinnamon bun

Me and my reflection

My first rug

My second rug. Love the texture.

A wonderful pile of rugs. I told you I liked the rug section. And the colour. Banana.

Rug number 4.

My favourite rug. Number 5.

Detail of texture and colour on number 5.

Some good colour down in the lighting department.

More colour.

I did not get lost. Luckily.

My trolley. And my fish ice-cube tray.

Changing my margins

Ho ho, I've changed my margins. Now I can use extra large photos. Much better.

Try a different angle

Il y a des fleurs partout pour qui veut bien les voir. Nice one Henri (Matisse). And yes I do know what it means. For those of you who don't: there are flowers everywhere if you want to see them. Go and find them. You don't need to go anywhere special, just look at things from a different angle. And take lots of photos.

Another Wayne

Or, another one of my heroes. The father of street photography and one of the finest. Henri Cartier-Bresson.

What is Wayne up to these days anyway? He's got a blog: http://waynehemingway.wordpress.com/ and he's selling sheds. Nice one Wayne. Not so sure about the Land of Lost Content though. It seems that lost content is expensive.

Monkey out.

Photos from the VM archive

I made it to Jessops and now have my archive on CD. Here is a selection I took back in the 1990s with real film. People and their environment.

My hero Wayne

...and my hero is: Wayne Hemingway. Why? He's a great designer and he's from Morecambe.

Have a look round his website and see why he's my hero. http://www.hemingwaydesign.co.uk/
